What is art?

Image
Is art definable? What is art, and what not? Can art be everywhere? Has something that is art for me to be art for you as well and vice versa?  Has art to do with beauty, harmony? Or rather with creativity, surprise, even irony?  Do you have to be original to be an artist or is it enough to be skilled? I am sure everybody would give a different answer to those questions and the subject could be discussed endlessly.  Personally, I am convinced that art can be everywhere and has a lot to do with the vision of the artist. The artist is someone who sees what other people do not see.  Leaving marks Almeria, I Almeria, II Summer sun Home, sweet home Spring

The colour(s) we need the most

I am just wondering which colour(s) colleagues need the most for their paintings. It certainly depends on your style in general and the subject of the painting in particular. In my case, it is without hesitation yellow !  I normally need three times as often yellow as the other two primary colours red and blue... ;-) Freedom City life In the forest Tropical beach Forest in the spring

Here and now

Everything which has to do with us humans is ephemeral. So does art…  Of course, we visual artists try to protect our work from UV rays, yellowing and other damages as good as possible with sprays, varnishes, glass, filters... But, at the end, would not it be better to accept entirely the ephemeral character of our work? Would it not be acceptable to create something made to enjoy here and now, like a wonderful meal or a beautiful concert?  Fruit c ocktail Tropical fish Savanna, multicoloured Carousel
