Back in Lanjarón after one year

Image
Last weekend, we went back to the small spa town of Lanjarón (region La Alpujarra, province of Granada in Andalusia, Spain) after one year. We were glad to see the people we know again, to stroll through the streets looking at the many fountains... As there was a lot of Sahara dust in the atmosphere, the sky was not clear. The temperature was high enough to hike in the surrounding mountains though - and to finish the day with a meal outside on the plaza .  Track near the castle in Lanjarón The typical Lanjarón-mountain This region has a lot of local products to offer: honey, chocolate, wine, almonds, cheese ham...

Snow in the mountains, picnic on the beach

Image
April is a strange month indeed. Friday was quite rainy at the coast, which means quite snowy in the mountains. We could picnic on the beach looking at some snow-covered summits at the east of Malaga - an unusual view at this time of the year. Yesterday, we opted for taking the train direction Fuengirola and walking back home from Carvajal. We love to stop at a small bay, as long as it quiet (it was). On the way back, we found many stranded jellyfish . I took this picture as I was fascinated by their beauty. At home, I found out their name, Physalia physalis in Latin, "Atlantic Portuguese man o' war", "man-of-war" or "floating terror" in English. I also read that they are in fact no true jellyfish. Though, they have got venomous tentacles that can deliver extremely painful stings, even when they are dead. Fortunately, they are not often to be seen on our beaches.

Feeling the spring

Getting up early is great at the moment. Skies are much more interesting than in the summer,  and I like to watch at small fishing boats returning home in the (pre-)dawn. The neighbour's dog is already barking (again!), the air that flows into the living room smells wonderful at blossom. Feeling the spring  Out of hibernation
