Zuheros, province of Cordoba (Spain)

Image
As I wrote in my last post , summers are always much other in central Andalusia than at the coast. Nevertheless, it may be the ideal season to visit if you are ready to adapt to another rhythm of life and take some precautions.  Yes, temperatures are higher than here at the coast, but the air is drier. If you wake up early, it is possible to hike (taking plenty of water with you and being back at 12 o'clock or so). Summer is ideal to relax with a (sketch)book or board game during the day and to walk at night. Last week, we spent two days in  Zuheros  (province of Cordoba), in a beautiful hacienda in the middle of landscape covered by olive trees (it is indeed not too far from the world capital of olive oil). Midsummer again

Image
Yesterday was midsummer again! We spent the day in the nature, near Zuheros , a picturesque village in the province of Cordoba. In central Andalusia, it is always much hotter in the summer and much colder in the wind than at the coast.  (I will tell more about Zuheros if my next post). I associate midsummer with intense solar energy, short nights and landscapes like those I saw yesterday. Here, at the coast, "San Juan" is synonym with fires on the beach at night and grilled sardines. Happy summer, everyone! Midsummer

Looking at the ground in Torremolinos

Image
Instead of looking at the houses, the shops and the sky, I wanted to explore our town centre paying attention to the different covers there (for water, electricity, phone cables, fire service, etc.). Some decorations on them are lovely abstract motifs.  Also, the renovated Calle Cuesta del Tajo (Torremolinos, Spain) has now interesting decorations on the ground.  Art is everywhere, art is everything around us, if we can look at it. Enjoy! Some gully covers (there are certainly more):   Some motifs seen in Calle Cuesta del Tajo:

Stensund and picnic on the beach

Image
In my thoughts, I am still a bit in Sweden. I wish I could live here and there at the same time. Or rather, there from June to August, and here the rest of the year. But this year is different. Summer was already there in Sweden in May, while here, it is still unseasonably cool in June (for Andalusian standards). So, we still can enjoy a picnic  on the beach instead of looking for some shade to protect us.  Looking at the Baltic Sea in Stensund , Sweden Picnic on the beach

Hiking in Södermanland County, Sweden

Image
It's June already, and I am finally showing some of the picture I took in Södermanland County, Trosa and Nyköping, East-Central Sweden). I could not upload most of them on Fine Art America yet, because, as so often, it did not work. :-( As we were so lucky to have sunny weather, we could hike between 10 and 20 km per day, on the Sörmansleden and in Stendörren Nature Reserve . Enjoy!
