Strange weekend... I wanted to participate to the photo marathon from Friday to Monday, but bad weather was forecast, heavy rain and thunderstorm. I thus walked with my camera on Friday already and succeeded in taking a couple of interesting pictures that I will upload on the municipality’s site in the next days. Yesterday, I wanted to attend the official opening of the new sculpture exhibition El Quijote from Aurelio Teno in our pedestrian centre (fortunately, it will remain there until August). However, nobody was able to tell me when this opening would be. We went into town yesterday at noon – all sculptures were still wrapped. It was a quite surrealistic scenery to see pedestrians walking between those giants, trying to guess what they could represent. Two police officers told us that the opening would happen one hour later, at 1 pm, but we left the centre at 1:15 pm, as nothing was happening. I heard three hours later that the opening would be on 6 pm, but I was already...

May is there, bringing us more daylight and more mosquitoes ;-) All Northern Europe seems to have a holiday here, at the moment. The sea is beautiful, big waves.    Essential Holiday

How does paradise look like? Difficult to say, but I could imagine it like the small village of Igueste de San Andrés on the island of Tenerife (Spain): banana plantations next to the ocean, nice people, beautiful dogs... An oasis of tranquillity far from mass tourism. Green and blue as dominant colours. Before arriving there, one has to take a small serpentine road that begins along a wonderful beach, Las Teresitas. Our first hike on Tenerife led us through the mountains from the small village of Afur to the remote natural beach "Playa de Tamadiste" (and way back). The protected park Malpaís de Güímar (Badlands of Guimar) on the island of Tenerife is a volcanic area where black, green and blue are the dominant colours. We spent three days there, as this rough landscape had an attractive force on us. April is there, and I am just back from Tenerife! It was a bit cold there, although the Canary Islands are supposed to enjoy a warm climate all year-round... Tenerife is green, grey and brown, blue. Banana plantations and foggy mountains, lava fields, sky and sea. Moreover, red dots: flowers.  This break gave me new creative energy, I will certainly post photographs and paintings here soon. I am "only" a visual artist, not an illustrator - painting or drawing abstract is what I like the most, but a couple of months ago, I came upon a nice group on Twitter posting under the hashtag #AnimalAlphabets.  The idea was to post an animal beginning with a certain letter once a week, all together on Monday 7 p.m. I discovered them with letter L that was for Leopard, and here a small collage with my work from Leopard to Zebra Shark. No, I did not have the courage others colleagues had to catch up from letter A, drawing all the animals I had been missing. Maybe because I am not sure I am good at it.
