Farewell, Hotel Escandinavia!

Image
Soon, the Hotel Escandinavia in Torremolinos (Spain) will not exist anymore (as I read that it would be demolished, I ran there the day before yesterday to make a last picture of it).  This place had a lot of charm.  Of course, it was absolutely run down and the garden was in bad shape, but it was a green oasis in our concrete town. You could see birds and cats there. A peaceful place where time had stood still. A dream. Now just a memory. Hotel Escandinavia, Avenida Palma de Mallorca 4, Torremolinos (28.03.2023)

Pink and striped leaves

I wish I could live in the middle of tropical plants 24/7 all year round and get some money (just enough to live on) to take care of them. I am always fascinated by their variety of shapes and colors. I could have taken a lot of pictures in the Butterfly Park in Benalmádena, it is always great to be there. Shadow

Walking in nature, being just a breath or a shadow.  Coming home and playing with an editing program, and the shadow becomes... an illusion.

City Jungle

Image
A normal Sunday in March. It was too late to take the train and too hot to walk next to the beach, so we stayed in the city and walked through this small piece of jungle that will surely disappear one day because construction is such a business here and nature has no rights.    Jungle in Paseo del Pan Triste in Torremolinos (Spain) Jungle and old bridge, Paseo del Pan Triste (Torremolinos, Spain)

Hiking in Los Peñascales

Image
I like to hike, but I cannot bear my inner voice. I want to hear silence instead of accusations. Birds. Wild boars. Dogs. But not the call of the past. Stairs along the small lake Peñascales in Torrelodones (Madrid, Spain)

Winter walk on the beach

Image
I wish weekends were at least three days long, so that I could observe more birds and discover places that offer me the tranquility that cities deny me. I would like to be the voice of the egret or the duck, or just the silence. I capture the world with the soul of a photographer who is not willing to take one plane after another to find meaning in life or beauty. That would be too easy. There is beauty where I live. Enough of it. Carvajal Beach in Benalmádena (Andalusia, Spain) Shells and pebbles on the beach in Benalmádena Scallop shell on the beach in Benalmádena (Andalusia, Spain)

Nature takes back its rights

Image
The storm that started last week is still not over, even though the wind has died down a bit (just a bit).  I always like to capture situations where nature takes back its place (abandoned buildings, broken windows, cracked paint... In this case, plenty of sand).  This "dune" could be seen on the sea promenade on Saturday, in Benalmádena, just beyond the city limits of Torremolinos. I thought an "old photo style" picture would make the atmosphere more intense. The passage of time should be part of my work. Benalmádena (near the harbor)
