Gully after the rain

We finally got some rain and it brought some color to our streets. Gully after the rain in Torremolinos

Hoge Kempen National Park: moss and co

Image
A humid forest always has a lot of beauty to offer to the hiker: mosses, mushrooms, vines and other elements. Even without sun beaming through the trees, they are shining their own light. Enjoy! Moss with branches and leaves Mushrooms on tree trunk Lianas and moss on tree trunk

Hoge Kempen National Park: water

Image
I am so happy when I can walk for hours in the forest and enjoy the "noises" I can hear there, which to me are not noises (like traffic noise, screams of arguing people or naughty children, or incoming phone calls). I enjoy listening to and watching birds, deer and rabbits. I am so happy when I can be in a place where there are no skyscrapers, no cars, no concrete pedestrian zones offering things I do not need, where instead I can find water in all its forms, yes, even as rain, which has become a foreign word here because people have forgotten how it looks like and feels. I wish I could have stayed longer in the Hoge Kempen National Park (Belgium). Enjoy my  whole album on my FAA website! Hoge Kempen National Park: paths

Image
The next weeks, I am going to post pictures I recently took in the Belgian National Park Hoge Kempen (province of Limburg, not far from the Netherlands and Germany). I did not know this place, but as soon as I read about it, I wanted to be there (and I would have liked to stay there forever).  I loved the woods, the heathland, the dunes, the ponds and streams, home to wild animals. Enjoy those two paths at first! Narrow path in Hoge Kempen National Park  Wooden path in Hoge Kempen National Park

Rain in Álora

Image
We were blessed with an unexpected little thunderstorm today in Álora! The weather forecast was unusually hot for April (without rain at all), so we especially enjoyed it .  Dark clouds bringing little rain in Álora (near Málaga, Andalusia, Spain) Befor the storm, beautiful river Guadalhorce in Álora (we could observe turtles and birds there)

The essence of my place

Salty water and sunshine are the essence of my place. Beauty can be found along the coast early in the morning, when people and dogs are still asleep. Seaweed in Mijas  Seaweed and pebbles in Mijas

Farewell, Hotel Escandinavia!

Image
Soon, the Hotel Escandinavia in Torremolinos (Spain) will not exist anymore (as I read that it would be demolished, I ran there the day before yesterday to make a last picture of it).  This place had a lot of charm.  Of course, it was absolutely run down and the garden was in bad shape, but it was a green oasis in our concrete town. You could see birds and cats there. A peaceful place where time had stood still. A dream. Now just a memory. Hotel Escandinavia, Avenida Palma de Mallorca 4, Torremolinos (28.03.2023)
